My name is Csilla Elam and I am a tutor. I have always liked school ever since I was a child and I have always loved learning.
I have experience working for Sylvan, Club Z, and Wyzant. It was during those times when I realized I would like to offer students quality and affordable tutoring. Hence I started ElamTutoring in 2009.
My effectiveness is in my method of teaching. So many times I heard students saying that I make math sound like a piece of cake, or easy, etc. That is my stregth. I know how to simplify the lesson for a student to make sure he or she understands.
Many of my students have started out with a D or a C and now they have Bs and are on the A/B honor roll, in about 4 months! I guarantee 2 letter grades UP in just 3-4 months!
I have a BS degree from the University of Alabama at Birmingham. I graduated in 2005 with a major in Biology and a minor in Chemistry. I have also taken some education courses. Currently I am mastering in Biology, long-distance at the University of Nebraska at Kearney. As you can see, I love Biology.
I offer tutoring face to face and online here in Birmingham, AL and nationwide. For face to face tutoring we meet at libraries or Books-A-Million. Face to face tutoring is only offered here in Birmingham and Hoover, AL area. My business licenses cover these two cities only. So, I will tutor students from the surrounding areas only please remember that we would have to meet in Birmingham or Hoover due to my license.
Online tutoring is offered through http://www.wiziq.com/. If you sign up for FREE through this website, you will have the chance to meet with me, the tutor, live. We will be using a shared whiteboard, powerpoint presentations, youtube videos, pdf files, etc. A microphone is required and a webcam is optional. Online tutoring is very porfessional and most of my students that started face to face are now taking sessions online with me. The parents love it! It is easy. They can do it from home. While students are taking sessions online, the parents can take care of their own chores and business. No more gas spending and no more waiting long hours for your children.
I tutor only students between the ages 6-18.
